British Academy Conferences bring together scholars from around the world to present, discuss and consolidate new research in the humanities and social sciences.

Algeria: Historical Struggles and Imagined Utopias is a multidisciplinary conference supported by the British Academy and organised by the LSE Middle East Centre and the Centre for Peace and Security, Coventry University.

From the Independence struggle to exciting recent developments in Algerian political, social, cultural and economic fields, Algeria carries important historical legacies to learn from. Prioritising decolonising, feminist and other innovative approaches, this conference will bring together scholars working on Algeria to promote, share and celebrate recent research.

The conference forms a key part of a wider initiative by academics in the UK to revive and energise UK scholarly networks focussing on Algeria.
