Ted Kenney’s achievement both as an editor and as an expounder of Latin poetry, especially Ovid’s, is unparalleled. His mastery of the traditional skills of the classical philologist served as the foundation of his literary analyses, a combination not previously cultivated by classical scholars. Many of his works have been translated and anthologised. His promotion of literary studies, particularly in the format of the commentary, has borne and continues to bear considerable fruit.
