Rosalind Savill, director of the Wallace Collection, London, from 1992 to 2011, and scholar par excellence of the Vincennes/Sèvres porcelain factory, died on 27 December 2024 after a short illness. She is remembered for her decades-long devotion to the Wallace Collection, which she repositioned with great skill, for championing French decorative arts, for her ground-breaking publications examining in unparalleled detail the Sèvres porcelain collection at the Wallace Collection and that of the marquise de Pompadour, and for her joie de vivre.
