Thomas Garnet Henry (‘Harry’) James worked in the British Museum, in the Department of Egyptian Antiquities, from 1951 to 1988; he was Keeper of Egyptian Antiquities from 1974 until his retirement. He was also active in the work of the Egypt Exploration Society. He published important editions of inscriptions and texts, but also sought to communicate to broader audiences.
