Summary

This research paper aims to assess how ‘place’ is presented and understood in national climate policy, exploring the challenges for local and regional stakeholders in enacting change locally, and investigates how post-pandemic recovery approaches are interacting with local climate action. It reviews key recent national climate policy and green recovery documents, as well evidence collected via semi-structured interviews with key place-based stakeholders which explored perceptions of how different people, identities, and cultures within cities in the South West of the UK are represented in decision-making on green recovery and climate policy.
