The British Academy – the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences - welcomes the opportunity to respond to this inquiry on the balance and effectiveness of research and innovation spending.


The Academy has been working with its sister national academies (the Academy of Medical Sciences, Royal Academy of Engineering, and Royal Society) to better understand the existing evidence for the range of benefits that research and innovation bring to the UK.
