These workshops will seek to build upon the knowledge that came out of a symposium led by Dr Adam Crymble on ‘designing effective mentorship in digital history’ in 2016. They will also draw upon a model of ‘writing retreats’ developed by Dr Anne Murphy in the School of Humanities at the University of Hertfordshire, which combine writing bursts with peer feedback sessions and community bonding opportunities to create an intensive but productive writing environment. The goal of the workshops is to provide participants with a structured environment to produce an advanced draft of a digital humanities research methods paper to be submitted to the Programming Historian.
