Writing Society: Ethics and Politics of Research in Precarious Times
- Project status
- Writing Workshops 2019
Since January 2016, Turkish academia has experienced drastic changes, including the targeting of thousands of higher education staff and institutions in the form of investigations, dismissals, expulsions, prosecutions and travel restrictions. Hundreds of academics who have pioneered critical scholarship in Turkey and who have signed the peace petition calling for an end to military operations in the Kurdish region have lost their jobs. The process has had a devastating impact particularly on early career researchers who have lost institutional security and intellectual support due to the dismissal of their supervisors and colleagues. This workshop aims to help tackle the structural inequalities resulting from this process and provide those affected by it with access to information and networks crucial for academic knowledge production and dissemination.
