The proposed additional writing workshops and activities will build on the success of the 2019 workshop by strengthening the writing and mentoring capacities of alumni, creating sustainable networks and training new early career researchers (ECRs). By addressing the capacity gaps identified by workshop alumni, the inclusion of grant writing development and mentor training will strengthen the impact from the initial writing workshop. Additionally, the Alumni will be given the opportunity to mentor ECRs’ writing for publication. The outcomes of these workshops will include creation of sustainable networks; increased capacities to train others; and a special issue of the Journal of the British Academy co-authored by alumni and senior academics. Our existing partnerships with key national and regional organisations, the Zimbabwe Council for Higher education and the Association of African Universities respectively, will ensure sustainability of the gains made through the training.

Workshop Team: Professor Juliet Thondhlana, University of Nottingham; Professor Evelyn Chiyevo Garwe, IBS University.
