These workshops have been designed to meet a real and expressed need. African scholars in the humanities and social sciences have for some time been articulating their frustration at the difficulties they experience in getting their work into publication in internationally recognised journals. Meanwhile, editors of Africanist journals in the UK (and beyond) have struggled to increase the representation of Africa-based authors in their publications. The planned workshops are innovative and future-oriented, convening new networks and building capacity from the ground up.
