There is a dearth of information regarding which non-state and sub-national entities are taking action, what kinds of efforts are occurring (eg, mitigation, adaptation or financing), and how these actions complement or compete with national policies and transnational networks.
By developing a research roadmap that involves collecting and analysing primary, micro-level data on non-state and sub-national climate actions in China, this work can determine which contextual factors shape transnational climate governance outcomes with the aim of increasing the overall ambition of climate change action.
