The creative industries in the George Town UNESCO Heritage site, Malaysia, have experienced significant growth, contributing to cultural vibrancy and economic development. However, challenges include skill deficiencies among creative workers and entrepreneurs and the under-tapped potential of heritage-embedded innovations for the creative industries. There is a knowledge gap in the innovation processes. Many global heritage cities face similar pressing needs to modernise heritage-embedded innovations, promote cohesive sectorial policy, and create a healthier innovation ecosystem. PLLACE seeks to address these needs by promoting collaboration through Living Labs (LLs). PLLACE aims to uncover the effectiveness of LLs in the creative industries setting, promote their adoption in Asia and develop globally applicable frameworks and innovative approaches.
