This is a capacity-building workshop to be held at Mahidol University, Thailand, for early career researchers and postgraduate students from Thailand, who are expected to publish in English, in high impact factor journals. It will develop writing skills for academic papers such as journal articles, book chapters, and for project plans and grant applications. The subject matter will focus on ‘Social development, language and culture’: the relevance of the languages and cultures of Asia for economic and social development. The workshops will encourage participation specifically from members of minority and Indigenous groups, and those working on participatory projects, especially working with women and young people, to improve health, community development, empowerment, capacity building, environment; and discourses surrounding these.

Workshop Team: Dr Julia Sallabank, School of Oriental and African studies, University of London; Dr Sumittra Suraratdecha, Mahidol University
