One Health surveillance systems are essential for National Action Plans on AMR, yet many countries face significant challenges in bringing this policy to fruition. We aim to use social science approaches to understand the challenges and facilitators to policy implementation for One Health surveillance of antibiotic resistance in Bangladesh. This builds on a concurrent project that is building capacity to integrate surveillance of antibiotic resistance across human, animal and environmental sectors funded by the Government of Bangladesh. Using a range of methods (evidence synthesis, interviews, focus groups and workshops) to engage with community members, key actors, stakeholders and policy-makers, we will identify approaches and effective solutions for sustainable collaboration across human, animal and environmental sectors for data sharing and policy action on AMR. We will use the policy cycle framework to provide recommendations on how to strengthen adoption, implementation and evaluation for future National Action Plans.
