Professor Ama de-Graft Aikins

This appointment will contribute to global initiatives addressing Africa’s disproportionate burden of chronic diseases through a ‘whole-of-society’ approach. Blending research and public engagement, the project will entail a longitudinal social psychological study on chronic illness experiences and systems of care among London’s West African communities, and establish a multilingual-multimedia website and annual international multi-stakeholder workshops on this theme. The project will inform Professor Ama de-Graft Aikins’ graduate teaching, supervision and research collaborations and broader networking activities with partners in the UK, US,  the Netherlands and West Africa. Research results will be disseminated through academic, policy and popular press publications.
