This workshop will develop a network of scholars from several African countries working on sport-related research topics (conceived broadly) to overcome their geographic and topical isolation so that they can develop future collaborations. This workshop organised by four sport history journal editors (three in the UK and one in South Africa), is planned as three events over two years to provide the mentorship and support for the selected participants through the entire publication process. The workshop will produce two journal special issues, one each in The International Journal for the History of Sport and Sport in History, to bring sport history research from African scholars to a global audience, and support these Early Career Researchers with publications and grant writing, and develop their future collaborations, including journal special issues, books, and transnational research projects.
Workshop team: Dr Heather Dichter, De Montfort University; Dr Tarminder Kaur, University of Johannesburg; Professor Kay Schiller, Durham University; Dr Malcolm MacLean, University of Gibraltar.
