Drawing on a project team of experienced post-Socialist and third sector researchers located in the UK, Ukraine and USA, these workshops seek to up-skill Ukrainian early career researchers working in the related fields of democratisation, civic development, civil society and third sector organisations/NGOs. Combining a taught training programme, editors' plenary and one-on-one mentoring, the arising international publications will broaden the academy with regards to both Ukraine's progress vis-a-vis the sustainable development goals (SDGs), and pluralise commentary on post-Soviet civil society development, the latter having been dominated by commentary on Russia. The workshops will form long-lasting networks, enhancing capacity and leading to research projects that partner directly with Ukraine's third sector. These will deliver ongoing knowledge exchange and impact regarding the SDGs and Ukraine's civic development, which will lead to a special edition of Voluntary Sector Review showcasing the outputs of these workshops.

Workshop Team: Professor Jo Crotty, Edge Hill University; Dr Viktoria Sereda, National Academy of Science of Ukraine; Dr Sergej Ljubownikow, University of Sheffield
