Academic publishing in highly rated and quality international journals is a hallmark of scholarly acclaim and increasingly used as a marker in personal career advancement and development. There are, however, significant barriers for scholars from the Global South to get published in the most prominent journals with the best rankings, which are mostly affiliated with institutions in, and dominated by scholars from, the Global North. The Writing and Publishing Workshop for Early Career Scholars in Sub-Saharan Africa aims to establish a forum for early career scholars from several African countries where they can foster a meaningful and supportive academic network, while receiving expert advice, training and perspectives from established academics, editors, and editorial board members affiliated with quality international journals. While the workshop will be hands-on in terms of approach, aimed at delivering quality outputs for publication, it will also serve as a launchpad for an enduring and collegial regional and international network.

Workshop Team: Professor Gerhard Kemp, University of Derby; Dr Pilisano Harris Masake, Namibia University of Science and Technology
