The British Academy urges new Prime Minister to back UK’s world-leading SHAPE subjects

Professor Julia Black, President of the British Academy, has today written to the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, urging her to back the UK’s thriving research and development sector and ensure we remain a world-leader in the social sciences and humanities.

UK-based researchers in the humanities and social sciences have been immensely successful through Horizon Europe in receiving highly prestigious research grants, particularly through the European Research Council. The British Academy strongly supports the government’s priority to associate to Horizon Europe as soon as possible.
