The British Academy joins 21 funders pledging to recognise impacts of COVID-19 in future grant applications
7 Mar 2022
The British Academy has today published a statement with 21 other funding organisations recognising the immediate and long-term impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the research community.
In the statement, the funders say that any disruptions to research activities due to the pandemic will be taken into consideration by panels and committees when assessing an individual applicant’s record of outputs, research achievements and career progression in future grant rounds.
The British Academy encourages those who have been adversely affected by disruptions caused by the pandemic to continue to apply to its schemes, in the knowledge that historic impacts will be considered when assessing new applications. Applicants should feel empowered to provide contextual information about the impacts of COVID-19 on their research, so that informed decisions can be made when assessing their application.
