Statement: 'Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories' conference 2013
27 Aug 2013
The British Academy, the national academy in the UK for the humanities and social sciences, provides funding to enable humanities and social science researchers to pursue research and dissemination across a variety of areas. In 2009, following peer review, Dr Victoria Mason - at that time was based in the Politics and International Relations Department at Lancaster University - was awarded an Academy grant to undertake research aimed at contributing a range of interdisciplinary insights and perspectives on issues of economic, social and cultural rights in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Academy's funding to Dr Mason included a contribution towards the cost of dissemination of her research findings. Dr Mason has used part of her research grant to help organise a conference at the Australian National University (ANU), at which she is also presenting her research, alongside the work of others. The Academy is not organising the conference 'Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territories' and was not consulted on the programme. Any views expressed at the conference are not the views of the British Academy and encompass a wide array of research and knowledge from fifteen speakers from around the world.
Further information about the British Academy’s funding and international work is available on the website.
