Statement from British Academy Chief Executive Alun Evans, following the tragic murder of Jo Cox MP: “All of us at the British Academy were appalled by yesterday’s tragic events in West Yorkshire. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to Jo Cox MP’s family and friends at this very difficult time. An attack of this nature, on a serving Member of Parliament, is an affront to our democracy. There can be no place for incidents of this nature in British society. The thoughts of us all will be with Mrs Cox’s family in the days and weeks ahead.”
