Speak to the Future launches the 1000 words campaign jointly funded by British Academy

Launched today the 1000 words campaign is based on the principle that everyone can learn the basics of a foreign language. Funded jointly by the British Academy and the university-based programme Routes into Languages, the campaign supports the idea that a basic understanding of a different language will open up a world of exciting opportunities. By learning 1000 words in a foreign language people will be able to interact with and understand people from different countries, cultures and backgrounds.
