British Academy 2014 Schools Language Awards Open for Applications
31 Jan 2014
Applications for the British Academy Schools Language Awards 2014 have now opened. The awards are open for applications from around the UK for projects that encourage large numbers of students to take languages to advanced and degree level. A total of fourteen awards of £4,000 each will be distributed to successful schools and learning programmes throughout the UK in November 2014. Two further national winners will receive an additional £2,000.
Applications are sought from schools and projects that show imagination and creativity in improving take up and enthusiasm for language learning, have clear objectives and can show how the benefits of language learning from the extra money will carry on after the funding has ended. Applications are strongly encouraged from projects and schools which target language learners from less advantaged social groups or areas of the country.
Last year, the British Academy awarded a total of £60,000 to schools, colleges and other providers, including supplementary schools, to encourage excellence in language learning. To learn more about last year's winning projects, visit the British Academy School Language Awards 2013 webpage.
