- INTRODUCTION
1.1 The Academy will confer upon the project the kitemark of recognition as a British Academy Research Project.
- USE OF GRANT
2.1 Grants may be used only for items eligible under the Academy Research Projects scheme, and in accordance with the items originally requested in the application. As a reminder, the items for which Academy grants may be used are set out below in Table 1. If any exceptions have been approved, they will be specified in the letter of award.
2.2 Expenditure may be vary between budget heads, within reason. Small adjustments may be made without recourse to the Academy, but if any significant adjustment to the proposed expenditure is envisaged, prior permission should be sought from the Academy.
2.3 Special arrangements for Academy Research Projects add to the advice given in section 3.7 of Part 1 of the Terms and Conditions of Award. It is recognized by the Academy that most projects given the kitemark of recognition will seek funding from other funding bodies, and the use of the Academy’s kitemark is encouraged to help secure such funding. As stated in the main conditions, such funding should not duplicate the specific purpose for which the Academy’s small-scale funding is awarded, but rather should complement or enhance it. All projects are required annually to update the Academy through the reporting/review process about the range of other sources of funding on which they can draw.
- REPORTING
3.1 Academy Research Projects are expected to be supported over a longer term basis subject to the submission of annual progress reports, and more detailed review every five years or so. Project Directors are required to keep the Academy informed at all times (not just when annual reports are requested) of any significant development affecting the project’s progress.
- VARIATION AND TERMINATION
4.1 The Academy should be informed in writing immediately if it is intended to move the project to another institution during the course of the research. It is normal procedure for any unspent research money to be transferred to the new employing institution. An interim statement of expenditure should be submitted to the Academy by the relinquishing institution. The new institution is required to confirm its acceptance of the grant and conditions of award. Provided no difficulties arise, the Academy will then authorise the transfer of grant between institutions.
