How do I submit my application?
Applications must be submitted via our Grants Management System, Flexi-Grant. If you are not already registered on The British Academy Flexi-Grant, please follow the link below for registration. Once you have registered and logged in, you will be able to start an application from the ‘Applications Portal’.
If you need help registering, please get in touch via [email protected]
My intended target region institution is not listed on the drop-down menu on the application form.
If your intended institution is not available to select from on the drop-down menu, please get in contact with us direct via [email protected].
We will then guide you through the institutional registration process for Flexi-Grant. Whilst you are waiting for this process to complete, you may find it useful to review the Scheme Notes. The Scheme Notes includes information on all the questions on the application form as well as further guidance on supporting documentation that you will need.
Applicants are advised to contact the British Academy about registering their institution at their earliest convenience in the application process.
What will I need to submit with my application?
Applications must be submitted via our Grants Management System, Flexi-Grant. You must fill in all the mandatory question fields. You will also be required to upload a CV, which must be no more than 4 pages long.
In addition, your application will require the upload of formal letters of support from a senior member of both identified institutions (normally expected to be a Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, or equivalent). They will need to provide formal letters setting out their statement of support for the applicant, the research and the programme proposed. The letters should be provided on headed paper and signed. The applicant’s institutions must set out clearly how the research chair will have the full and senior support from the institutions involved, how they propose to embed and integrate the chair and how they would propose to link with the FCDO ERICC programme. The letters of support should, in addition, explicitly state that the institution in question approves the submission of the application for this funding opportunity. These letters of support need to be submitted via the Flexi-Grant application form. To do so, you will need to invite the relevant people to ‘contribute’ to your application, where they will be able to upload their document.
