Summary

Gilat Levy is a Professor at of Economics the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a research fellow at CEPR.

She was a co-editor of The Economic Journal and a member of the board of editors of the American Economic Review, Review of Economic Studies, Theoretical Economics and the Journal of the European Economic Association. She served as a council member in the European Economic Association and the Royal Economic Society.

Her research focuses on Microeconomic Theory and Political Economy. In particular, her recent papers analyse how institutions, culture, and behavioural biases, affect political and economic outcomes such as populism and polarisation.

Her work has been published in leading academic journals such as the American Economic Review, Econometrica and the Quarterly Journal of Economics. She was the recipient of a European Research Council starting and consolidator research grants, was elected as a fellow of the Econometric Society in 2020, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the European University Institute in 2024.
