Summary

Alison Salvesen is originally from London. She was educated at St Hilda’s College, University of Oxford, in Classics followed by Hebrew, Aramaic and Syriac.

Since her DPhil (Oxford, 1988) her work has focused on ancient translations and interpretations of scriptures, and also their use within Jewish and Christian communities.

She is currently President of the International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies.
