Neolithic houses and skulls, households and corporate groups

Ten years of excavation at Boncuklu, 9.5 kms north of Çatalhöyük in Anatolia, have provided new insights into the spread of farming in the early Neolithic, and the associated development of distinctive forms of household and corporate groups. The economic, social and symbolic worlds, and interconnections of these first farming communities was explored and, in the process, the antecedents of behaviours seen at Çatalhöyük revealed and considered.
