- The British Academy Lectures
Delivered by the most outstanding academics in the UK and beyond, the British Academy’s flagship Lecture programme showcases the very best scholarship in the humanities and social sciences.
Our mental health is just as important as our physical health. In times of stress, enhanced cognition and reserves of resilience are vital in maintaining our wellbeing. This lecture will draw from Brain Boost: Healthy Habits for a Happier Life, a new book giving practical and evidence-based tips to gain insight into lifestyle strategies that can improve our brain health, mental cognition, and overall wellbeing. Exploring the benefits of exercise, diet, sleep, social interactions, kindness, mindfulness and learning, attendees will discover how adopting healthy habits in these areas will lead to a longer and happier life.
Speaker: Professor Barbara Sahakian FBA
Barbara Sahakian is Professor of Clinical Neuropsychology in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge. She is a Fellow of the British Academy, the Academy of Medical Sciences and Clare Hall, and is one of the world's top female scientists. She received The Conversation's Sir Paul Curran Award for 2023, has written popular science books, and is frequently interviewed on radio, newspapers and TV, including Netflix.
Free, booking required, tickets to be released in November 2024
