Yangon, Myanmar

In partnership with the École Française d’Extrême-Orient, the British Academy held a policy-oriented workshop in Yangon to discuss the importance of language choice in higher education, particularly in the context of Myanmar, and promote lesson-sharing among countries in the South-East Asia region. The discussion benefited from the participation of experts in language policy, bi-/multilingual higher education and sociolinguistics from Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia and the UK as well as local policy makers and representatives of non-governmental organisations.
