Every August in Edinburgh, the Festival presents the largest public celebration of the written word in the world, bringing together over 500 events with the most exciting writers and thinkers on the planet to ignite imaginations, foster human connection, and challenge the status quo.
The British Academy is sponsoring the following event at this year's Edinburgh International Book Festival.
Looking at Art, the Art of Looking
What is art? What is it for? And how can we meaningfully write about the experience, and pleasures, of looking at it? Award-winning cultural historian, critic, and novelist Professor Dame Marina Warner FBA explores this (and more) in her compelling work, Forms of Enchantment: Writings on Art & Artists. She talks to Octavia Bright in a conversation about the role of imagination in understanding the world.
Speaker:
Professor Dame Marina Warner FBA, Quondam Fellow, All Souls College; and Professor of English and Creative Writing at Birkbeck College, University of London
