The British Academy Book Prize is awarded annually for a non-fiction book that has made an outstanding contribution to global cultural understanding for a wider public audience.

Alongside the powerful human urge to create borders, there seems to be an equally strong urge to make connections and transcend them. James Crawford’s The Edge of the Plain, Ben Judah’s This Is Europe, and Kapka Kassabova’s Border: A Journey to the Edge of Europe each address the psychological boundaries that divide us, and the human links we forge. Today they discuss boundaries in prose and outlook.

Kapka Kassabova was awarded the British Academy Book Prize for Global Cultural Understanding in 2018.
