We live in a strongly interdependent world, subject to constant social, political, economic and technological forces of change. This interdependence means that the cohesiveness of society is of fundamental importance as a key for unlocking change, especially in the political arena and the economic realm. This conference focuses on understanding how economic behaviour influences and is influenced by how societies cohere. It aims to bring such understanding, particularly, to the forefront of economic science. The conference will have three sessions (featuring four contributions each) devoted to the following sub-themes: (i) Economics and Identity; (ii) Social Norms and Economic Behaviour; (iii) Narrative Economics. This unique, interdisciplinary conference will address the multi-dimensionality of social cohesion; focus on economic issues, ranging from micro to macro behaviour; advance foundational and applied understanding as well as theoretical and empirical research; and deliver diverse scholarship of international standing.
