Join Professor Dame Marina Warner FBA as she discusses the most meaningful stories from the realm of myth, folklore and fairy tale, that have shaped and inspired her life and work.
Speaker: Professor Dame Marina Warner FBA
Professor Dame Marina Warner is an award-winning novelist, short story writer, historian, and mythographer, who works across genres and cultures exploring myths and stories. She has focused especially on fairy tales, the 'Arabian Nights' (also known as 'One Thousand and One Nights') and on the interrelationship between stories and migration. She is a Distinguished Fellow of All Souls, and Professor of English and Creative Writing at Birkbeck College, University of London.

Ritula Shah is an award winning journalist and broadcaster. She is the presenter of ‘Calm Classics’ every weekday evening on ClassicFM. For the past 15 years, she was the main presenter of the World Tonight, Radio 4’s evening news programme, which has a focus on international affairs and domestic politics. Ritula is a judge for the British Academy Prize for Cultural Understanding 2024 and a fellow of the London Centre for the Humanities and she is on the advisory board of the defence and security think tank RUSI, a trustee of the visual arts organisation INIVA and an ambassador for the British Asian Trust.
