Abba Zabba Blue (2001)

Screenprint with woodprint 6/75

Anthony Frost, Abba Zabba Blue

This print is by Anthony Frost, son of the artist Terry Frost of the St Ives School. The Academy is fortunate to own four paintings by Terry Frost, part of the Ray Pahl bequest. Two of these are currently on public display in the Gallery: look out for Newlyn Sun and Ochre and Mars Red at the top of the stairs in no. 11 Carlton House Terrace.

The new print, Abba Zabba Blue, is on loan from Professor Annette Kuhn FBA, a member of the Art Committee.

Anthony Frost’s work is influenced by the Cornish coastal landscape. He lives deep within the West Penwith rural landscapes of Rosemergy, near Morvah on the Atlantic coast. He is an active member of the well-recognised artistic community of Penwith and exhibits regularly with the Newlyn Society of Artists.

Professor Annette Kuhn FBA said ‘This striking print was acquired with the Academy’s premises and existing art collection in mind. Our collection already boasts several works by St Ives artists; and Abba Zabba Blue’s scale and intensity work well in its new surroundings. Besides being an uplifting work of art, Abba Zabba Blue is absolutely right for Carlton House Terrace, complementing and enhancing our existing collection.’
