This is a workshop programme for historical geographers from South and Central America delivered in partnership with the Journal of Historical Geography and the 18th International Conference of Historical Geography. An open call to early career researchers will ensure the next generation of scholars in the region is encouraged to publish their work in the Journal, and to use the International Conference of Historical Geography to test ideas before publication. The workshop will provide individual and group mentoring, enabling participants to develop a paper for publication in the Journal of Historical Geography. The four-day workshop will encourage the development of skills in targeting ideas for publication, advice in writing grant applications and will build a peer community. The editorial team of the Journal of Historical Geography will learn from the participants, enabling them to support authors from the region more effectively and ensure their research is published.

Workshop Team: Dr Nicola Thomas, University of Exeter; Dr Andre Novaes, State University of Rio de Janeiro; Dr Diogo Cabral, Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics
