The Writing International Student Migration in Africa workshop aims to build capacity toward sustainable development of an enriching research environment in Africa. Over three days in Nairobi, Kenya, the workshop will provide the participants with mentoring and training for publishing in international top-ranking journals, build their capacity for research innovation through a grant writing session, and extend their connections to global research communities. The workshop will generate new knowledge on international student migration in Africa and be followed up by a set of papers by participants that will form a Special Issue in the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies (JEMS). The close Africa-UK collaboration between ten African early career scholars, JEMS, The Open University, and the African Network for Internationalization of Education, will also produce a writing toolkit comprised of two best practices guides and lead to additional writing workshops organised by the participants at their institutions.

Workshop Team: Dr Markus Roos Breines, Open University; Dr James Jowi, African Network for Internationalisation of Education; Dr Gunjan Sondhi, Open University; Professor Parvati Raghuram, Open University
