Dr Berger's research examines how the proliferation of online platforms is affecting the UK labour market, analysing how the rise of 'gig work' affects the earnings and subjective well-being of workers. His research also touches upon issues of intergenerational mobility by asking whether the pervasive job polarisation, that is a key feature of labour markets at least since the 1980s, has reduced the potential for economic and social advancement for children from low- and middle-income families.
