Amanda Phillips is Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia, USA. For the duration of her Visiting Fellowship she is hosted by the University of St Andrews.

During her time in the UK, Dr Phillips will work on a project entitled Ottomans and Serbians, Sultans and Monks: Material Cross Culture ca 1400. The research takes as a central topic the role of inscriptions in textiles and other media, investigating the spread of Islam and Islamic visual culture from Anatolia to the Balkans.
