Professor Patrick Wright FBA is Professor of Literature and Visual & Material Culture in the Department of English at King's College London. His books include On Living in an Old Country, The Village that Died for England, and Iron Curtain: from Stage to Cold War.  He is presently researching the part played by narratives of encroachment and betrayal in the articulation of national and regional identity in modern and contemporary Britain.
