Lectures in Classics and Ancient History
Following a major review in 2011, eight new lecture series were approved - including this one. The lecture, concerning classics and ancient history, was first delivered in 2013.

Master-Mind Lectures
A bequest from Miss Henriette Hertz (d. 1913) established a fund that was intended both to support three lecture series, and more generally to enable the Academy to support scholarly research and publication. The Master-Mind Lectures were one of the lecture series. Each lecture is intended to be an appreciation of an individual of ‘genius’, connected with any of the disciplines of the Academy. The lecture was first delivered in 1916.

Isaiah Berlin Lectures
This lecture series was endowed through a bequest from Sir Isaiah Berlin FBA. The lecture is intended to appraise the contemporary condition of any one of the fields of learning with which the Academy is concerned. The lecture was first delivered in 2001.

The British Academy Lectures
This lecture series was established to mark the British Academy’s move to new headquarters in Carlton House Terrace in 1998. The lecture is intended to promote appreciation of the Academy’s fields of scholarship, in particular on matters of topical debate. The lecture was first delivered in 1998.

Schweich Lectures on Biblical Archaeology
In 1907, in memory of her father Leopold, Miss Constance Schweich endowed a fund ‘devoted to the furtherance of research in the archaeology, art, history, languages and literature of Ancient Civilisation, with reference to Biblical Study’. One fruit of the fund was the foundation of this lecture series. The lecture was first delivered in 1908.
