These workshops will benefit researchers in the Global South by addressing the following specific needs:

a) Updated knowledge of recent developments and advanced research in relevant subject areas

b) Guidance on academic writing in general

c) Constructive feedback on a specific piece of writing

d) General guidance on publishing

e) Specific advice on the suitable publication forum for a specific piece

f) Establishing contacts with editors of relevant journals

g) Skills development regarding external funding applications

h) Developing the confidence that despite tremendous resource constraints, researchers in the Global South can produce world-class scholarship (addressed by a panel consisting of leading local scholars with a strong publication track record)

i) Developing a local and regional network of early career researchers

j) Career progression (by ensuring skills development, providing enhanced publication opportunities, and facilitating local and global networking as part of the workshop).
