These workshops aim to bring together health social science researchers from at least three countries in southern Africa, i.e. Zambia, Swaziland and South Africa. The objectives are to:
1) improve their academic writing skills;
2) orientate and provide support for the researchers to start, work on, finalise and submit an academic manuscript for peer review;
3) offer broader career development advice, including grant writing; and
4) create a network of ongoing mentoring and mutual support for critical health social science researchers in the region that facilitates longer term support and collaboration both within the region and with the UK/Europe.
