Since the start of his career, Dr Neves has been interested in exploring the ways Marxism has been used by nationalism. He has conducted extensive research on the Portuguese communist movement, analysing the political, economic and cultural implications of the intersections between nation and class.
By focusing on anticolonial dynamics related to the history of Portuguese colonialism, during his time in the UK Dr Neves will contribute to widening the geographical scope of the research agenda developed by Goldsmiths’ Centre for Postcolonial Studies.
