As the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills today announces the science and research financial allocations for 2015-2016, Lord Stern, President of the British Academy said:
“I welcome confirmation that funding for science and research in 2015-16, despite reports to the contrary, will be maintained in cash terms. This will enable a high standard of research to be sustained and help the humanities and social sciences tackle the challenges of our time.
The announcement comes ahead of the launch of the British Academy’s new multimedia publication Prospering Wisely on 12 February, which explores the many ways in which the humanities and social sciences enrich the quality of our lives.
I am also pleased to see that the Academy of Medical Sciences will receive funding from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills for the first time, and look forward to the opportunities this will provide for further cross-disciplinary partnership.”
