In response to the Government’s announcement that it will expand the number of research fellowships eligible for accelerated entry under the UK’s Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa route, Professor Simon Goldhill, Foreign Secretary at the British Academy, said:
“This expanded route will be a boost for the UK's research base and indeed for the humanities and social sciences. Attracting and retaining a breadth of talented researchers from around the world allows the UK to pioneer new approaches and drive research excellence.
"We hope that expanding the number of fellowships eligible for Exceptional Talent Visas is the first step towards the fast, efficient and affordable future immigration system we need - one that truly welcomes researchers and their dependants. We look forward to working with the government to further strengthen humanities and social science research and the UK's reputation as a world leader in these fields."
