Academy announces 34 new Rising Star Engagement research awards of up to £15,000

26 Mar 2015

The Academy is delighted to announce that 34 awards have been made through the British Academy's Rising Star Engagement (BARSEA) scheme. This scheme provides funding of up to £15,000 to distinguished Early Career Researchers to actively engage in career development through organising interdisciplinary events for other Early Career Researchers. The inaugural group of award holders were selected from 67 competitive applications. 19 women and 15 men were chosen from a diverse range of UK institutions including three from Scotland and two from Wales.

This is an exciting new opportunity to celebrate the wide range and creativity of early career scholars through a variety of activity including a network of Early Career Researchers chosen from a competition to be mentored and discuss their work via a podcast series; as well as four part, multi-disciplinary Salon-style forum for debate.

The British Academy is pleased to continue its long tradition of supporting Early Career Researchers through this new channel. You can download the BARSEA award winners 2015 here (PDF file - 244 KB).
