British Academy Schools Language Awards: past awards

These awards for schools encouraged uptake of languages to higher levels.

For four consecutive years, we ran our Schools  Language Awards to support schools to deliver innovative, creative and  exciting projects, particularly to encourage take-up of languages at  GCSE and A-level.

The awards were split between mainstream and supplementary schools to ensure a breadth of languages and encouraged uptake of community languages. The mainstream awards were further divided into seven regions: North, South East and South West, London, East and Midlands, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Inter-curricular projects and partnerships between primary, secondary and supplementary schools, FE colleges and HEIs were encouraged.
