History of Art and Music

This section brings together Fellows who specialise in the history of art and music.

Focus of this section

This section encompasses the two disciplines of History of Art and History of Music. The art historians in this section are both university academics and museum and gallery professionals. Their areas of expertise range broadly across both time and space: from classical antiquity to the present, and from east Asia and South Africa through Europe to the Americas. On the musical side, the range of approaches is also wide, embracing historical and analytical study of manuscripts, repertories, aesthetics, and music theory as well as sociological, psychological and ethnological perspectives, and study of music in performance.
